Vejer de la Frontera

For a village of less than 13,000 inhabitants Vejer de la Frontera has a surprising amount of nightlife in store. Special is that the village is hardly affected by tourism, which makes it feel very pure.

Plaza de España and Mercado de San Francisco
For the real village Andalusian atmosphere, but also for the better restaurants you go to the Plaza España. At the beginning of the evening, the nightlife crowd consists of old owners who sip their sherry and hang around in the square. During the day you can relax on the well-stocked (small) terrace of Trafalgar with Andalusian cheese and a local wine. On the modest main square you will also find the well-written restaurants Garimba Sur and - last but not least - El Jardín del Califa, the highlight of the village square. A delightful place for tapas is the 400 meter west of Mercado de San Francisco. This gastronomic market is open every day from noon to evening.

Artistic bars
Sooner or later you will undoubtedly walk against the terrace of La Bodeguita, one of Vejer's nicest bars located in a narrow street just above the central square. Inside is an artistic, relaxed atmosphere with appropriate music sometimes provided by musicians. At the bar, simple but fine tapas are displayed, served on toast. No less artistic is Bar Abacería La Oficina (Calle Paseo de las Cobijadas, 1). In this artists' stronghold, delicious dishes such as risotto and solomillo (tenderloin) are also served at no more than eight tables.

Flamenco
A very special flamenco spot because of the intimate setting and artistic atmosphere: Peña Flamenca. In this former church the most important flamenco performances take place. Even if there are no performances, it is nice to taste the atmosphere in this cultural center.
